You will either step forward into growth, or you will step backward into safety
The way to recover the meaning of life and the worthwhileness of life is to recover the power of experience, to have impulse voices from within, and to be able to hear these impulse voices from within-and make the point: This can be done.

Currently planning and ironing out details of "the great move of 2008". So far alot more options are coming up in terms of rooming and temp crash space than i ever could have imagined. Lol and behold, Buffalo has ALOT more cooperative living establishments then Atlanta.
I dream at night of taking an old warehouse downtown and turning it into a co-op hive. Wall partitions made out of COB to create seperate apartments within the massive space. MAssive Indoor vegetable garden. 2-4 families. Nearly completely self-sustainable...but smack dab in the middle of urban life.
But i did forget ONE thing. Autumn. Buffalo. Different from down here.
I need to start investing in thermals, STAT.
_______________ In 1984, Jeremy Narby travelled to the Amazon to study with the Ashanica. There, he met shamans who claimed they received their plant knowledge and healing power from drinking ayahuasca. This began an adventure that lasted over ten years and culminated in Narby's groundbreaking book, The Cosmic Serpent: DNA and the Origins of Knowledge, which revealed possible correlations between shamanic technologies, myth, and science. He has also authored the book Intelligence in Nature: An Inquiry into Knowledge and served as co-editor of Shamans Through Time: 500 Years on the Path to Knowledge with Francis Huxley.
In this interview, Narby discusses photon-capturing DNA, his first terrifying journey with "the spirit vine," the correlation between molecular biology and ayahuasca shamanism, and how modern-day humans could benefit from acknowledging their dark side. (starts off slow and then picks up some SERIOUS co-signing love from the Dana)
Jeremy Narby is a breath of fresh air with his respect towards indigenous tradition and religion. There are faaaar too many westerners on spirit quests who tend to assimilate and denigrate rather than experience and appreciate aware of 500+ years of world-sanctioned genocide. |

Everything But The Girl- Each and Everyone/Rollercoaster Live. And flawless. EBTG is one of my FAVORITE bands. From their jazzy acoustic to their trip-hop, downtempo drum&bass mode. I can't hear their album Walking Wounded without memories of the glorious stench of London hitting my nostrils. Either way, their discography is the soundtrack to my adulthood. Just thought I'd share since not a day goes by where I'm not listening to at least ONE EBTG track. :P
And the names may have changed but people are still the same

| THE MELVINS recap |
[Aug. 18th, 2008|07:13 pm] |
DUDE. The melvins show was sold out. Line when we got there. We were both extremely hung over from various illicitry the previous night (mind you we were both in seperate places). Several times we ducked out of line to puke--but in all actuality there was no real line. People with tickets and people without. Apparently some folks thought they could buy tickets at the door. Shit was sold out completely AND NO ONE WAS GIVING THEIR SHIT OUT. LOL. You wont find a scalper at a melvins concert, mutherfuckers.
Dale had a heavy sludgey noise thing going with another guitarist. Lots of distortions, screams. Awesome. Big Business came on. Even Awesomer. Then the Melvins. DUDE. Halfway through the show they launched into a scathingly sarcastic acapella rendition of the star-bangled banner then
wait for it.
wait for it.
wait for it.
MOTHERFUCKING HONEY-BUCKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A HISTORY OF BAD MEN
BORIS
The sound was insane. The venue was packed. 300 people in a space that couldnt fit a lonely persons birthday party. 20 foot ceilings. Stage 8 inches from the ground. And the sound?! A FUCKING WALL.
wall wall wall wall wall wall
Oh yeah, and i cant leave out their touring partners: Big Business
Most intense show i have ever been to in my life. FUCK |

| Hannah Montana |
[Aug. 10th, 2008|02:06 am] |
thanks to nannying I've become privy to finally watching Hannah Montana. For those outside of the solar system, Hannah Montana is the new watered down version of that 80's cartoon, Jem. Normal girl with a superstar wig-wearing alter-ego and some of the most CRACK-LIKE pop songs i have ever heard.
Anyway, this song IS so perfect for my life at the moment. So thought i'd share. :P You may thank my 9 and 4 year old charges. :P [warning!!11: you will be humming this tune for at least a week after each listen] Hannah Montana- See you again
